Best Automotive Detailing Products for Paint Restoration
Poorly maintained paint can give way to visible scratches, water damage, and even rust. If you want to avoid a complete repaint of your vehicle, you will want to address any existing damage and take preventative measures against future damage. When choosing between products to restore paint, we recommend Malco® Accelerate All in One Polish & Protection and Rejuvenator™ One-Step Auto Paint Restoration. These two one-step products are a simple and easy way to restore paint to its former luster. Now you get to choose which product is best for you.
Malco Accelerate All in One Polish & Protection
Malco Accelerate All in One Polish & Protection is a one-step polishing compound designed to remove light to medium paint defects while leaving behind a slick waxed surface with lasting protection for up to 90 days. This all-in-one polish will quickly and easily remove swirls, imperfections, and light scratches while leaving a deep glossy finish. Malco Accelerate features easy removal allowing a full vehicle application before wiping off. Malco Accelerate offers a long working window and a dust-free application. It can be applied by hand, or with an orbital or rotary buffer. How to Use:
- Ensure that the vehicle surface is clean, dry, and free of dust and dirt particles.
- SHAKE ACCELERATE WELL • Make sure to shake the bottle well, as the formula will separate.
- Apply four medium-sized drops of polish to the pad and work in a crosshatch pattern until the compound turns from opaque to clear in a 2’x2’ section.
- To ensure maximum protection, allow the product to flash or dry on the surface before removing with a microfiber (the entire car may be polished before removal).
- If using an orbital polisher, apply at a low-speed setting, then buff at setting 5-6. If using a rotary polisher, apply at the slowest speed and then buff between 1,200-1,400 RPM.
- If working by hand, use a clean, soft applicator for best results.
- Accelerate can also be applied to the pad or directly to a panel with a trigger sprayer.
- Allow it to dry to a haze before buffing off with a microfiber.
- Accelerate can be left on the vehicle for an extended amount of time, allowing full correction before removal.
- If it becomes too dry, dampen your microfiber to remove it. This water-based formula allows for easy cleanup.
Accelerate All in One Polish and Protection is recommended for swirls, imperfections, and light scratches. If medium or heavy correction is required, start with a more aggressive compound like EPIC® or Tru-Grit® Heavy-Duty Compound and use Accelerate to finish and protect.
Rejuvenator™ One-Step Auto Paint Restoration
Rejuvenator™ is the fast and easy way to bring gloss back to aged, oxidized or environmentally damaged automotive paint. This one-step compound and glaze is specially formulated with premium Carnauba wax to remove scratches and leave a beautiful, glossy surface protected by a high-performance polymer film. How To Use:
- Ensure that the vehicle surface is clean, dry, and free of dust and dirt particles.
- Apply a 1” dab of Rejuvenator for a 2’ x 2’ section and spread with a wool or foam pad.
- Buff at speed between 1400 - 2000 rpm. Work the buffer slowly from side to side and front to back until most of the product is gone, and gloss appears.
- Repeat as necessary until gloss appears.
Rejuvenator will provide a little more correction than Accelerate by removing medium sand scratches, light oxidation, hazing, and swirls. If medium or heavy correction is required, we recommend starting with a more aggressive compound like
EPIC or
Tru-Grit Heavy-Duty Compound, then finishing with Rejuvenator.
Overall, these easy-to-use one-step formulas are a simple way to restore paint. They both remove and correct hazing, swirls, light to moderate scratches, and light oxidation. If you need a product with more correction, Rejuvenator is the clear choice. If you want a product that is an all-in-one polish and protection product, Accelerate is a better alternative. Either way, your car will shine more than it did yesterday.
